Invalidated View

Hello Experts,

 

I am creating an attribute view in HANA studio, based on an existing table (previously created by myself) with data in it (data preview running fine). I validate my attribute view (no errors, "green light" given) and activate it (status "succesful" in the log). But when I try to run a data preview on the created attribute view, I receive the following message in the header of the preview pane:

 

com.sap.db.jdbc.exceptions.JDBCDriverException: SAP DBTech JDBC: [391] (at 119): invalidated view (and then the identifier of my attribute view)

 

No data is shown in the preview pane, as a consequence.

 

Has anyone received the same error? Would appreciate a lot any hints.

after DROP USER CASCADE - volumes not being freed up

Hello HANA community,

 

We've just achieved an upgrade/migration from BW 7.3 on Oracle to 7.4 on Hana 73 using SUM DMO.

We're about to redo another upgrade in order to refine our upgrade/migration steps, so I dropped the BW schema using this command:

 

drop user SAPBP2 cascade;

 

Statement 'drop user SAPBP2 cascade'

successfully executed in 12:56.125 minutes  (server processing time: 12:56.113 minutes) - Rows Affected: 0

 

I'm not sure why the output shows Rows Affected: 0 but the user and its schema are definitely gone from the Catalog and Security folders in the Studio.

 

My problem is that the Volumes size and Memory usage didn't seem to have reduced at all. I restarted HDB but it still shows the same volume usage for my index servers...

 

It doesn't look like there should be a special trick in the drop command, so i'm not sure to understand why at least the volume usage didn't go down,

 

Any idea why?

Limitations in importing DSOs into HANA

I am on BW 7.4 SP5 HANA SP7 and have noticed that only 'Standard' DSO's can be imported into HANA. The 'Write Optimized' and 'Direct Update' DSO's are not available for selection in HANA Studio.

 

As I have not found any documentation explaining this limitation and the F1-Help regarding DSO's only says:

 

  • DataStore
    • SID Generation must not be Never create SIDs

 

I thought I should ask if this is a bug or a feature or myself doing something wrong?

Considerations About Renaming HANA Node Hostname

Hello experts,

 

We have a task to change HANA server hostname from A to B.

 

As far as I know, we can use rename SAP HANA system function in HLM.

 

I have some concerns:

1. Should I need to manually change HANA hostname using OS command before or after executing rename in HLM?

2. Any addtional things should we perform after renaming.

Restrict schema size

Hi everyone,

 

Just wondering if there is a way in HANA to restrict the size (memory allowance) of a particular schema? We have some users that can create objects but want to be able to set a limit on the size of the tables they can create.

SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager Error (SPS08 - LCM)

Hi,

 

I am trying to install Working Capital Analytics apps on HANA Server (SPS08) by means of SAP HANA Lifecycle Manager(LCM). On entering into LCM, and choosing 'Deploy HANA Content', I was able to upload the zip file (from my PC) that I had downloaded from marketplace. However, on moving forward, I am encountering the following error:

The installation process comes to a stop, once this error occurs. It would be of great help if someone would please provide some insights on resolving this error?

Search

system backup of HANA server and HANA DB.

Hi .

 

I'm creating some of documents for maintenance operation - hana server .

I want to confirm about backup of "HANA Server" . Also HANA server is SUSE linux , so normally I get backup of linux server by dump/restore command , use dd command when server offline  and on rescue mode kernel , or use something disk(partition) image backup tool .

I think it can use for SUSE linux server - HANA Server too.

 

In this time , if I get backup image of all disk  that  contains all HANA related files including persistent storage (of course hana is offline when get backup) , then I restore this image , can I use this HANA DB ?

I see some of documents of HANA backup , but I never find about this type system backup . It is not supported operation?

Filters from BW in HANA Calculation View

Hi, Gurus!

 

We start using HANA modeling and faced with some issues in filtering. Hope someone can help us, maybe anybody faced with same error and give us they expirience.

 

Well, we have following model

On this model we create Virtual Cube in BW. All objects mapped.

So, when we try to open query for 1 day, or for 1 month, or even for 1 quarter time of execution the same. Of course in simple models (one analytic view on them projection and after aggregation) this situation not occurred.

We tried to find some information about this case, butall in vain. As we think filter from BEX Query or ABAP cube preview must transfer to all objects in calculation view but in fact, we fully sure about it, block 1 (look at picture above) not limited...

Maybe this happen because our usage this block (type of join, or maybe characteristics which joined) :

So any help about how to understand this behaviour of system, or how correctly create CALC View to using all filters from BEX, or how debug in HANA call of CALC view from BEX, will be very useful!

WORKDAYS_BETWEEN function

Hi folks,

 

I'm looking for a way to calculate workdays between two dates and I don't want to include holidays (I want holidays to be considered normal days).  I noticed in our new SPS8 HANA we have this new function for WORKDAYS_BETWEEN which works great as I've tested but the problem is we dont seem to have a factory calendar setup that has zero holidays in it.  So obviously we could easily create a new factory calendar but i wasn't sure if that's the best thing to do in this case because we'd always have to maintain it OR perhaps somebody has a code snippet that works equally as well to just exclude weekends between two dates.

Table partitioning for 2.5 Billion rows

Hi,

 

We are planning to do Volume and Performance testing in our native hana project ( Data load through BODS) . Volume Expected - appx 2.5 Billion iniital load to retail 2 years history and YTD.

 

Has anybody done Table partitioning for this size and what are the issues , concerns and best practice for the same.

 

Please help, Really appreciate your contributions.

Cant Grant to _SYS_REPO

I have created a schema and tables using the SYSTEM user. Now I try to grant

 

GRANT SELECT ON SCHEMA FUJBPPOC TO _SYS_REPO WITH GRANT OPTION;

 

but get an error

 

Could not execute 'GRANT SELECT ON SCHEMA "FUJBPPOC" TO _SYS_REPO WITH GRANT OPTION' in 2 ms 360 µs .

SAP DBTech JDBC: [258]: insufficient privilege: Not authorized

 

Can someone guide me on this error?

Auditing DB activity based specific pre-fixed user .

Hi Team,

 

 

I am working on HANA auditing topic  now ,

  • We have a requirement to track user activities only if they are name with a prefix .
    For Example LOCAL_ABC and LOCAL_A1F  both of this user should be captured in the policy .
  • Something similar like below

 

 

                CREATE USER LOCAL_FRED PASSWORD Initial_1;

                CREATE USER LOCAL_FREDY PASSWORD Initial_1;

                CREATE SCHEMA MY_SCHEMA OWNED BY system;

                CREATE TABLE MY_SCHEMA.MY_TABLE (first_col int);

                GRANT INSERT ON MY_SCHEMA.MY_TABLE to LOCAL_JOHN;

                GRANT INSERT ON MY_SCHEMA.MY_TABLE to LOCAL_JOSE;

                CREATE AUDIT POLICY OBJECT_AUDIT AUDITING SUCCESSFUL INSERT ON MY_SCHEMA.MY_TABLE FOR LOCAL* LEVEL INFO

 

 

 

Is there a possibility to do this , Like tracking  a group of users .

STRING_AGG function in SAP HANA SQL Script

Hi,

 

We have HANA Revision 7.3.

STRING_AGG function seems to work when we just execute the query without assinging it to the value.

However as soon as we assign it to a value in a stored procedure or scripted Calcuation view, it fails.

 

Any ideas?

Syntax for UPSERT using a subquery

Hi all, I can't seem to figure this one out so maybe someone has hit the same issue. I am guessing it's a syntax problem.

 

UPSERT works fine when dealing with a single row, but I can't get this to work for a subquery.

 

Works fine

UPSERT <TABLE> (COLUMN1, COLUMN2) VALUES ('VALUE1', 'VALUE2') WITH PRIMARY KEY;

 

Syntax error near "PRIMARY"

UPSERT <TABLE> (COLUMN1, COLUMN2) VALUES (SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2 FROM TABLE2) WITH PRIMARY KEY;

 

Same thing tried another way

UPSERT <TABLE> (COLUMN1, COLUMN2) (SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2 FROM TABLE2) WITH PRIMARY KEY;

 

I have used this successfully before with INSERT, but I am thinking the UPSERT is a slightly different animal.

Persistence Manager

Hi everyone,

 

I have a query about the memory usage of the Persistence Manager entry in the "Component Memory Usage" reporting under the "System Information" tab in Studio (we recently upgraded to rev 82 and there is no longer Persistence Manager but rather "System" which includes the Pool/PersistenceManager entry).

 

We have been trending the used memory size of this component over the past 2 weeks and it has grown (reasonably steadily) from 7GB to about 34GB. The current Column Store table memory size is about 96GB on our 512GB system. We load data from flat files using a combination of the IMPORT command and some stored procedures 3 times during the day. We are not sure why this component seems to be ever increasing. We know if we restart the services it will drop back to a few GB but then steady grow again.

 

Has anyone else seem this behaviour or know what might be causing this? This component is growing faster than our data volume so if left we wonder if it will approach the same used memory size as our column store tables.

Is there any tools or tables can delicately capture the memory consumption of a stored procedure  or a HANA view?

Recently, I encounter a HANA performance issue and need to know how much memory the SP took during runtime.

current limitations of fiori where we can not see any Org Elements as dimensions in KPI Modellor we see only TASKs related stuff

In fact the final goal is to see the closing KPIs in launch pad filtered by Co Code or region or controlling area for Financial Close Progress 

 

Can we control these dimensions at fiori authorization level. We want to know how add Org Unit as key field in KPI Modellor for SAP Fiori.
