how do i filter the records in analytic view by using variable/parameter for a time range
i have a analytic view which has a output column as date type. i want the user who use this view have the control to decided the output records based on a time range (from x to y).
i tried to create 2 variables, 1 for start_time, 1 for end_time. Ideally, i should have a expression for filtering data like this:
$$start_time <= date_column <= $$end_time
However, the variable windows doesn't seem to be feasible for the expression as above.
Does anyone has the same problem and get it solved?

Checking damaged table with checkRowStore.py
Hi all,
As per note 1963791, I'm trying to run the python script subjected with user <sid>adm.
The output only contains "begin consistency check" and that's it. I believe there's more output to be expected.
Has anyone run this script before?

How do Calculation Views work if called from SQL Script?
I have a scenario where I am wanting to select a data set from a Calculation View via SQL script. The CalcView would ideally have some input parameters that can be dynamically filled upon selecting from it via SQL Script. But my understanding is that can't be done. So my question is this, if I take out the input variable and instead use a "where" clause in SQL script, will that selection in the where clause be applied to the initial Aggregation set? Or does Hana first retrieve the entire record set in the Aggregation, then filter it with my where clause selection later?
For example: I have a CalcView that gets initial data from an Aggregation (we'll call this "InitAgg"), then in between that and the final connection to the Semantic point I do some sort of filtering and joining and what not, and then end with connecting to the final Aggregation point (we'll call this "FinalAgg").
If I then write the SQL script "select * from SYS_BIC.myPackage/myCalcView where column = 'something'", does Hana send that where clause to the "InitAgg"? Or does "InitAgg" grab everything to process and later, after "FinalAgg", the filter is applied?

Error occurred in Multipolygon st_intersection() function
Hi,
We are using HANA 08, and using Spatial Reference, trying to calculate intersection of 3 polygons(BLACK part in diagram). For this, we use multipolygon, as shown below query and it's graphical diagram is also shown,

but it gives following error :

Considerations About Renaming HANA Node Hostname
Hello experts,
We have a task to change HANA server hostname from A to B.
As far as I know, we can use rename SAP HANA system function in HLM.
I have some concerns:
1. Should I need to manually change HANA hostname using OS command before or after executing rename in HLM?
2. Any addtional things should we perform after renaming.

Reg : Cluster and pool tables
Hi All,
I think this has been asked previously.
Have a doubt, i think this area is kind of opaque.
This is the scenario, we have standard business suite systems now i am going to get the data into hana using SLT how do i handle cluster and pool tables. Do i bring in the declustered data?
I am aware that we can get the data from these tables into BW on hana, not sure if that is correct.
What are the best practice approach for these table classes.
How have you implemented these kind of scenarios.

Limitations in importing DSOs into HANA
I am on BW 7.4 SP5 HANA SP7 and have noticed that only 'Standard' DSO's can be imported into HANA. The 'Write Optimized' and 'Direct Update' DSO's are not available for selection in HANA Studio.
As I have not found any documentation explaining this limitation and the F1-Help regarding DSO's only says:
- DataStore
- SID Generation must not be Never create SIDs
I thought I should ask if this is a bug or a feature or myself doing something wrong?

Drop user schema/revoke to own schema
Hi everyone,
Just wondering whether it is possible to either drop an active users schema or at least revoke all privileges for a user on their own schema. Basically we have some users we do not want to be able to create objects, but are granted select privileges to a different schema where all data is maintained. Seems like a fairly simple thing but I cannot find any info on whether this is able to be done.

HANA SPS08 install error - import of delivery units failed
When I install HANA SPS08 on SUSE Linux, I always get this 'Import of delivery units failed Cannot import delivery unit /usr/sap/HND/global/hdb/auto_content/HANA_UI_INTEGRATION_SVC.tgz' error. The failed delivery unit may be different each time, like: HANA_DT_BASE.tgz. Please help me to deal with this error, I already tried many times.

Hana preload memory option
When we originally converted to BW on HANA, I set some specific tables to automatically load to memory at database startup. Recently, though, I set the option for these tables to load NONE to memory on database startup. I even look in SYS.TABLES and see the column IS_PRELOAD as FALSE for these tables. But when we restart the database, these tables are still loading FULL to memory, even before any queries are ran. Any ideas?

Issue in Calculation View CE
Hi,
I am facing an issue in Calculation view while using CE engine functions.
I searched for answers but I couldn't find one.

when I try to activate it, it throws the below error. I double checked the syntax as well. Error while accessing :tab1.

Determining required recovery files with hdbbackupdiag
Hi all,
I'm referring to SAP Note 1821207 to generate the output of required files for recovery to a certain point-in-time using hdbbackupdiag
By default, log backup interval is 15 mins.
I set the syntax -u as follow:
case(a) -u "2014-09-08 08:05:00"
case(b) -u "2014-09-08 09:05:00"
By right, in case(b), it would list down more log files compared to case(a).
However, I'm getting all the log files (from the last successful backup) listed for both cases.
I believe this is not how it should work?
Please advise.

Query from a SAP HANA Beginner.
Hi,
I'm totally new to the world of SAP. I have worked in "IT Applications Support & Maintenance" for 10 years and now looking to learn something new and exciting. Among the latest technologies I researched about, SAP HANA seems to take the lead. It would be of great help if someone can answer my queries below:
1. Can someone like me with absolutely no experience on SAP be able to learn HANA and land in a job? I know it'll be hard but please tell me it is not close to impossible.
2. These are the two courses I'm interested in (and also needed before appearing for an Associate Certification).
a. HA100 SAP HANA Introduction
b. HA200 SAP HANA - Installation & Administration.
3. There are E-Learning modules for the above two courses. Can I just learn with e-learning and not do any classroom training? At this point of time, I may not be able to afford classroom training.
4. If I go ahead with E-Learning, will I need a high-spec laptop/desktop to install and play with HANA? Or will a standard home laptop be good enough?
